We had the honor to meet the State Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong.
Did you know Florida ranked as 12th least obese state in the nation?
A new report says that Floridians rank 12th in the nation when it comes to having a healthy weight.
The report released this week found that 35 percent of Floridians have a healthy weight — while the overall adult obesity rate is 25.2 percent. The report was put together by the Trust for America’s health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
That makes Florida the 12th least obese state in the nation. Colorado had the lowest adult obesity rate in the country while Louisiana had the highest.
Florida’s rate remained steady from last year, but State Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong says obesity remains a problem in the state. The Department of Health estimates costs associated with four obesity-linked diseases could cost $34 billion over the next 17 years.
Thank you Department of Health in Collier County for inviting us to meet him.
