ust Against Children Drowning Foundation, Inc. and our Coalition held a butterfly release ceremony and a 1-2 mile candlelit beach walk to remember the 36 children who have lost their lives due to drowning in Collier County since 2000, and the 13 month old twins, Joshua and Christian, who lost their lives five years ago, on January 16th, 2010 at Vanderbilt Beach.
The event received wonderful media coverage*, the Coalition and Just Against Children Drowning Foundation, Inc hopes a strong message was sent to the community to implement the layers of protections: supervision, swimming, barriers and knowing how to respond/provide CPR in the case of emergency in order to prevent future drowning tragedies in Collier County.
